I normally sign up months in advance for this marathon but I instead decided to wait a week before so I would have an idea as to what the weather conditions would be like. The past few marathons have been in November but this year they moved it to December hoping for better weather. I had not really trained for it this year as I had done in previous years. I ran 100 miles in August but then had an injury (shin splint). This shutdown my training to only a few miles a week. I also had a lower back injury a week before the marathon (from riding the sling shot ride at Fiesta Texas lol - you strap in and are slung 125 feet straight up via bungee cords).
So my injuries subsided and felt good a few days before the marathon and decided to sign up. I ran an OK race not my worst time and definitely not my best. I completed the 26.2 miles in 4 hours and 45 minutes. I told myself before the race I would try and hold a 10 minute pace as long as I could... but as always about mile 13 I begin to think that I have to do 13 miles all over again lol....
Hope those that ran it did well and see ya next year...!
